Read It!!

My inlaws have told me stories about how when my husband was little, he’d want them to read him books 24 hours a day. He yell, “Read it!” over and over until the books fell apart, and then they had to buy new versions of the same books to keep him from falling apart like the book did.

My daughter got this gene. She never showed much interest in books until recently. When we’d read to our son at night, she’d mozy over to her dollies or some other toy and not even pay attention. That’s all changed in the last few months. From the moment she wakes up, she’s gathering books in her arms and begging you to read them. She memorizes them and finishes the sentences. Heaven forbid you try to condense a story – you will NOT get away with it. Thanks to her new found love in books, she’s picked up the concepts of rhyming words, colors and can name places and animals even I struggle with. She's also a master at Dr. Seuss word-play.

I had to work late last night and when I got home, she and her daddy were snuggled in the recliner with her clutching an arm full of books, almost asleep. When we laid her down, she held fast to her favorite book, “Llama Llama Red Pajama" (0r Jamma, Jamma, Jamma as she calls it).

I have a feeling Santa is going to be very busy working in his library this year getting ready for his visit to my little girl!
