Hindsight is a beautiful gift

A few days after losing his job, my husband had an interview at an animal health company that had ties to my work.  This company operates an R&D lab in our building.  While making a new video for our campus in February, the CEO of the company came to speak on their behalf about their relationship with the University.  I initially did not get a good impression.  But turns out, he was nervous about being on camera - and he was actually a very cool guy who warmed up and I got to know better.

Fast forward.  April 26.  A few days before Adam lost his job.  The CEO came to campus again, and this time we were debuting the new video at a gala event to commemorate our first anniversary.  He happened to sit next to me.  We visited and I mentioned that my husband had applied for a job there (he had done it about a week before, just because he had a feeling something was looming at work).

The day after losing his job, they called for this interview.  But then he didn't hear from them again.  He figured the CEO had said something to the HR guy, who interviewed him as a courtesy to the CEO as a courtesy to me.

He applied for 50+ jobs - every single day running his tooshy off trying to find something.  He had finally lost hope for this position and moved on mentally, looking at places in left field - grasping for anything that would pay our bills.

And the next day, they called and asked if he could come in that afternoon for a second interview.  He went.  They said they'd call in a few days.  Three hours later, they called with an offer and he starts Monday.

Here's where the hindsight comes in.  Looking back on God's plan...we can NOW see that this horrible job he got to begin with was just the impetus to get us here.  I got my wonderful job, which I LOVE.  I met this CEO and got to know the folks in the lab.  That opened the door to this company, which otherwise we might not have known about.  And there you have it.

And what's amazing about this opportunity is that not only is it a day job, no weekends (unless desired for overtime) - which he NEVER figured he'd find again - but they are paying for him to go to college to earn his B.S. in Microbiology.

When God closes a door, he doesn't always open a window.  Sometimes he's opens another GIANT door.  When we were in the throes of it, not able to pay our bills, stressing every single moment, walking around in fear, we couldn't see it.  Now, we realize what was happening.  That's the funny thing about Faith.  It pulls you through.
