There's Nothing Quite Like Family

This is my cousin, Geneva, and me. She lives in New York and we haven't seen each other in nearly 20 years. But we spent Thanksgiving together. As kids, we were inseparable. And while facebook keeps us connected, seeing each other again in person has just rekindled our friendship, and kinship. I'm even trying to figure out how to get to New York to see her this summer.

Thanksgiving was glorious. Thirty-seven members of my paternal grandfather's family descended upon Kansas and our little corner of the world for a few days - eating, playing games, going through old photos and journals, creating our family tree - it was just awesome. Seeing our resemblance, sharing ancestors - it's a bond that you can't even quite describe.

The cousins - this is the "middle" generation - we're all the girls of the Gilreath boys (David-son of Geneva, Steve and Rod, sons of Bill).

This is the Bill Gilreath Family - all the descendants (and their families) of my grandfather.

All "the littles" - the next generation of Gilreath's!

Adam and I even snuck into a picture together!

That's a WHOLE LOT to be thankful for.
