And then came Cale.
We have a laundry list of places not go to. Things not to do. Situations to avoid. We try to maintain "Life" and not let his condition change him or his opportunities to be a kid. He still gets to see movies, just when they come out on DVD.
But alas, it is summer. Where does everyone want to go? THE POOL!! And our town has a brand new, shiny aquatic park full of fun slides and things to do. Does my child want to go? Yes. Will we go? NO. Is he devastated and worried that life will come to end over it? NO.
Earlier this week, just a few days into the new water park, a child was going down one of the MEGA slides and got caught at the end, tearing up his knee and bled into the pool - more than a drop. He needed seven stitches. Life just went on. "The chemicals took care of the germs from the blood" they said. HA!
Have you thought about the amount of germs, blood, body fluids and YUCK in a public pool? Have sprinkler. Will stay home.Ok, I'm not a horrible mom. We just trust a few friends and their pool water...so mychildren aren't being deprived of swimming fun, don't you worry.
