In our Sunday School lesson yesterday, we discussed "margins." We began with an image of a glass being filled with water. But then the pitcher doesn't stop pouring and the water just runs over onto the table, onto the floor, eventually the glass falls over, it rolls off and breaks....
Then we were asked where we were. Was our glass full? Nearly full? Overflowing? Do we leave margins for our financial surprises (like taxes, emergencies), margins for our schedules, our health, our faith?
Which of these are we LEAST likely to leave margins in? Finances. Health. Schedule.
Yes.
There isn't any room. And what does that say about me? Imagine a fish in that glass. If you let the water overflow, eventually that fish will rise to the top and fall right over the edge. That fish represents my family! Good Lord, help me.
The pitcher needs to STOP pouring. I need to take the glass and pour some out of it and leave some room at the top. Now, to just figure out how.
