More Pictures from the Trenches

We were released Sunday with our "Super Star" patient, who'd been walking the halls, eating pudding and doing well. He was tolerating his pain meds great, eating, moving around, fever was gone - life was good.

At home, he even played a little, while sitting, but still - he was not just staring into space. We saw a glimmer of sunshine. Then he woke up Monday crying he was in pain. The pain medicine didn't phase him. And then he started vomiting. So we raced back to the ER for another LONG day of tests, IVS, medicine, an enema (yuck) and tears. In the meantime, getting a hold of my husband in HIS trenches at work is MISERABLE, HORRIBLE, STRESSFUL and ANGERING. He had words with the morons who wouldn't page him when his son was headed to the ER. That's another story.

He's back home. We're keeping careful watch. Here are some pics from the trenches that is post-op with an immune-suppressed little boy. Grab a tissue. :(

He barely cried post-op even through the pain - until they took OUT the IV. Then this is the face we got. It's a good thing we have a live in nurse at our house to take care of the patient!! This was a few hours before we headed BACK to the hospital yesterday. He even indulged her and didn't get upset!

Back in the ER, vomiting and trying to just not have a total breakdown. He, once again, was a superstar.

Hopefully tomorrow, I'll have some that show a smile. Hopefully.
