Marc's older sister, Johni, married Brad, who joined the Boy's Club. Shortly thereafter, my husband and I began dating and began hanging out with Brad and Johni. This web of friendship kept getting stronger through the years.
On the day that Brad and Johni gave birth to their first child (after 2 very sad losses), I held their beautiful daughter and cried that I would never have a child of my own, as were were struggling with infertility. They cried with us in the hospital room. That night, unbeknownst to us, we conceived our son. One year later, they had a son. The next year, we had our daughter (on Johni's birthday) and two months after that, Marcus became a father as well.
Here is the next generation...
Seeing our children grow up and play together in the same way that the parents (and grandmas) did before them brings a special meaning to the friendships. We all struggled in our own ways in becoming parents, yet here all of our children are within months of each other in age.
You might have a lot of people that you do things with or keep in touch with, but very few people end up being friends for life. How lucky we are when it happens...especially through the generations. That is the true meaning of BFF.
