The first night we stayed in our new home, I told my husband that it felt like a cabin in Montana. In our other house, the nearest tree, bush or flower was across the street. At this house, we have foliage and flowers in abundance. And birds. And rabbits. And squirrels, spiders, mosquitoes, fish (in the backyard pond), and cats, and bees, and..and..and.
Every day is like going on a hike in the woods. We've fished dead birds out of the pond (from under the beautifully blooming water lilies). Yesterday, we freed a baby bird from our chain link fence. We have a nest of birds in our hanging basket of impatients on the porch and a family of 5 little squirrels in our front yard tree. Kamikaze bugs of some sort have taken up camp in the ivy on our garage, as well. Which is fine...except when they dive bomb the car when you back out.
It certainly keeps like interesting. And my children are taking such delight in seeing this "weird" wildlife - man, have they been sheltered or what?! Who needs a vacation when you have a yard full of adventure?!
Um...mommy does!
(Pictures of the house to come soon, as soon as I figure out how to download them onto my laptop!)
