Just To See You Smile

Our son is intrinsically NOT a happy-go-lucky child. We aren't sure why. He’s very serious, straight-faced and domineering. A smile is pretty tough to capture.

The other day we were on the interstate driving and another vehicle passed us on our son’s side. A young lady in the front seat was roaring with laughter.

“What is that girl doing?” Our son asked, inquisitively.

“She’s smiling,” my husband said (with a hint of sarcasm if you can imagine).

“Why is she doing that?” he continued.

My husband, very seriously replied, “That’s what people do when they are happy.”

“Oh,” said our son, and went back to his business.

See what I mean? Any ideas on how to make this kid a 5 year old instead of a grumpy old man?
