My kids have been in heavy-duty teaching mode lately. They don’t realize it, but they teach me something new every day. Here are some lessons gleaned from this week.
- What’s inside doesn’t matter – when it comes to gifts. Just as with wrapping paper on Christmas morning, plastic Easter eggs are more fun than the candy or toys inside of them.
- The best place to go to sleep is on the living room floor – as long as you have someone to carry you to bed.
- Reality TV can be a bonding tool. This week, we have spent quality family time watching “American Idol,” “Dancing with the Stars,” and “Jon & Kate plus Eight.” They are entertaining, educational, and good for the whole family.
- There is a good reason to pick your nose – there are boogers in there.
- Sonic sucks.
- Plantains are a perfectly pleasant piece of produce.
- Luscious, expensive German chocolate eggs really are better than Cadburys.
- Opening a door can be the highlight of your day if done with enthusiasm.
- Drinking anything out of a wine glass makes you feel special.
- And Lastly…Saying “Knock, Knock” makes our dog bark – this is the lesson I could have done without.
