The sweet little girl I wrote about yesterday is doing well. She came through her surgery fine - a small amout of small intestine had to be removed and much scar tissue from her previous surgeries was removed. She is stable in PICU and will possibly be moving to the pediatric unit later today or tomorrow. While she is in a lot of pain, she is breathing well and looking good. What an answer to prayer!
This morning, a dear colleague of mine learned (at work) that his father had committed suicide. What raw emotion to experience. When you learn of a loved one's death - expected or not - it is difficult and painful. But when they CHOOSE to leave the world - and leave you behind - well, there just aren't any answers and there's nothing you can say to offer comfort. I watched as this grown man fell to pieces into the arms of others. His wife, who came to deliver the news, fell apart in my arms. My heart aches to the very core for their family.
Shortly after, I learned that another colleague's wife, who entered her second trimester of pregnancy yesterday carrying twins, was taken to the hospital this morning with complications. We haven't yet heard how she or their babies are doing.
God must be busy. But what we have to remember is that nothing is in our hands - so while we want to make everything right, take away the pain and heal the wounds - we must look to Lord. It's hard to do sometimes, but we must.

Wow. It's moments like these when the only answer is to pray.
