Most children learn the word "no" early and say it often. My children seemed to hold off and master it later in life - at 6 and 3. Lately, conversations around our house go something like this.
Me: "Son, go get your shoes. It's time to go."
Him: "NO."
Me: "Don't you want to go with me to get lunch?"
Him: "NO."
Me: "Fine, then your sister and I will just go."
Her: "NOOOOO!!!"
Me: "Well I can't leave you here, so we'll just eat cereal."
Them: "NO!"
Me: "If one more person says 'no,' punishments will begin."
Them: "No!"
Me, chasing them down for spankins....them running away, crying, "NOOOOOOOOOO!"
Later that day, my husband enters. "Did you all have a good day?"
Me: "No." Them: "YES!"
Me: Checking into a day spa at next opportunity.
